“Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.””Hebrews 13:5 NLT
Have you ever had a friend or coworker who promised they were trustworthy? Maybe they said things like, “You can trust me. You can count on me. You will always have me by your side.” Have you later discovered that talk is cheap? I know I have. I have had people make promises that were easy to make when things were going well. However, when the pressure was on, they didn’t keep up their part of the deal. It’s hard to cast too much blame. It’s easy to talk about faithfulness when everything is going great. It’s much harder when everything is going wrong. That makes the promises written in God’s Word even more precious. He says He will not abandon us. That means if it’s not yet good, God is not yet done. What we have to do is work on our trust. When God does not come through the way we want, we think He has failed. He didn’t fail. He just did it a different way. He has not abandoned you. He never will.
- I will rest in His Promises.
- I will take a step toward God by trusting His will over my wants.
- I will come back to this promises as often as I feel alone.
“Help me know and trust in your promises, your timing, and your will for my life.”
