Real Life Church believes…

Real Life Church believes…

… God isn’t looking for the talented. He looks for the teachable.

…God isn’t interested in our gifts. He’s interested in our passion.

…God doesn’t forget His children. He knows right where you are.

…We were born for community. You need the family of God.

… Bad things happen, even in church. That’s why our faith is in God not in an organization.

… We don’t create a move of God. We find His move and jump on board.

…God isn’t waiting to move in the Earth. He’s already moving. Get in.

…The best is yet to come.

…You are not forgotten.

…You are worth something.

…You are important.

…You are special.

…It’s by divine appointment you are reading this now.

…Know this…. God is Real. God is near. God is waiting on you. He says you are beautiful, important, and worth dying for.

…Real Life Church exists to connect you to God. Right now. Then lead you toward becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

The True Meaning of a Classic Christmas Song

What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won’t come our of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church.

Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.

The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.

Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments

Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.

The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.

The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.

The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.

Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit–Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.

The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.

Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit–Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.

The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.

The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.

The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles’ Creed.

Boasting Weakness

Paul is the first New Testament church planter.
Here he talks about his ‘interesting’ life:

Are they servants of Christ?
I know I sound like a madman, but I have served him far more!
I have worked harder, been put in prison more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again.
Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty-nine lashes.
Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned.
Three times I was shipwrecked.
Once I spent a whole night and a day adrift at sea.
I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers.
I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles.
I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not.
I have worked hard and long, enduring many sleepless nights. I have been hungry and thirsty and have often gone without food.
I have shivered in the cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm. Then, besides all this, I have the daily burden of my concern for all the churches. (2 Corinthians 11:23-28 NLT)

So what’s this got to do with me?

BIG IDEA: In our weakness. God is made stronger.

It’s important to realize Paul didn’t act like those weren’t happening. He just didn’t let the circumstances define him. If anything, they stood as a reminder of God’s ability to bring him through tough situations. Paul wasn’t the richest man or the most elite socially. However, his tenacious personality and trust in God was audacious. His bad surroundings seemed to only make Paul more resolved.
How will your tough times define you?

Real Life 411 Coming Up

Real Life 411 is our monthly Interest meeting and a pretty big deal around here.

The basic idea is we feel that our job is to tell our story. It’s God’s job to provide the increase.

So, 411 is just that. A time when we tell our story.

Ours tells of how some goes from a 18 year old kid with a crazy dream to three families selling out and risking everything to pursue that dream eleven years later. While along the way gaining knowledge, wisdom, and purpose by being pulled through both tragedy and triumph.

And we’re just a part of the story. We feel that everyone who is a partners with RLC has a unique part in the story.

It’s an amazing journey and the great thing is it’s just beginning.
