“Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?”1 Corinthians 3:1-3 NLT
These verse spoke to me because it says very plainly that the people Paul is writing to could not handle to learn more about God because of how they were treating others. How they were treating each other showed a bigger heart issue. There should be something inside of me that wants to reflect the heart of God by treating others with the same respect and love that I desire. If I see people in a negative light, does it mean that I still have not taken on the mind of Christ? Is it possible that I can view my spiritual maturing by how I love others? Looks like that is exactly what God’s Word is teaching me today.
Today, I will look to give love and not receive love. I will see people the way Christ sees them and I will choose to walk in an attitude of mercy and forgiveness.
Jesus, thank you for loving me. Help me to extend that same love to others today.
