“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.”Philippians 3:14, 16 NLT
I remember riding with a friend in the rain. It was raining so bad and we were driving on a dirt road. Well, it was usually dirt. That night it was all mud. When we arrived to our destination, we had to park on a hill. We didn’t really think it would be a problem so we got out and started to walk toward the house only to hear something and turn around to find the car was sliding backward. I panicked and went around to the back of the car to stop the slide. It worked… as long as I held on. As soon as I stopped pushing on it, the car started sliding. Eventually, we were able to angle the car into some grass to stop the slide but I think about that moment when I read this verse. I had to keep pressure on the car to stop it from sliding. As soon as I let off, the car would go backwards. In difficult moments, we want to pray a quick prayer and then go about our business. However, we must keep doing what we know to do and press forward. Don’t give up. Don’t let up. Don’t let yourself slide in the wrong direction. It’s all possible through Jesus.
- Today, I will not put my walk with God on autopilot.
- Today, I will press in to all God has for me.
- Today, I will realize that I must do the possible and God will do the impossible.
“God, thank You for always watching out for me and providing strength in my weakness. I hold on to You and press forward.”
