Mark 1:35

If Jesus went away frequently to be alone with the Father, how much more should we? True power isn’t born in public experiences. Maybe it’s sometimes manifested there. True power with God is born in the daily discipline of seeking God’s face in a personal quiet time.

You may be able to preach like Paul but if you can’t pray like Daniel, who cares. Its the same as having a tree full of leaves. It’s beautiful sure, but no fruit. It can dazzle your eyes but in the end it’s pretty useless.

This is something I’m still learning everyday. Some people have a gift to pray. They can pray for three hours and it feels like 20 minutes. If I pray for 20 minutes…. It feels like 20 minutes.

If you are like me, your okay. You simply may not have that gifting to storm the heavens and pray down strongholds over other nations.
However, you should still enjoy your time with God.

Remember that what you are aiming at is a relationship with God. Relationship is cultivated over time. Remember when you first met your spouse? You couldn’t be separated. You talked on the phone or txt back and forth for hours about absolutely nothing. Then, at some point, you gradually became use to each other. For some of you the relationship became just another part of your life. Now it’s missing some of that spark and excitement.

Your relationship with God can in that same place. When is the last time you went on a date with God? When is the last time you did something special for Him just to show how much you loved Him?

The Bible says that when you do special things for “the least of these” you do it as unto God. It’s like slipping God a rise just to remind Him of your love and affection.

Journal starter:
“Today, I am looking for a way to do something special for God.”
