“One more thing, friends: Pray for us. Pray that the Master’s Word will simply take off and race through the country to a groundswell of response, just as it did among you. And pray that we’ll be rescued from these scoundrels who are trying to do us in. I’m finding that not all “believers” are believers. But the Master never lets us down. He’ll stick by you and protect you from evil.”
2 Thessalonians 3:1-3 MSG
It’s amazing to think that the Apostle Paul had enemies within the church. It’s easy to see him with detractors outside the church but among those who profess to be after the same goal? However, this was a very present issue Paul had to face all the time. The entire letter to the Galatian church was written to fix some of the false doctrine spread by Paul’s Christian detractors after he left. You can see in the Book of Acts that he had to eventually go to the church in Jerusalem to complain and set boundaries. What does this mean for us? This means that if we wait until everyone agrees with us before we ever try to do something great for God, we will always be waiting. Look at the great people throughout history such as Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther, Martin Luther King Jr, etc. All these people had an important message to spread yet were met with vehement opposition.
God never said that His plan for your life ensured everyone would agree with you. Various people will disagree for an equally amount of reasons. The goal is to find out what God is leading you to do, make sure it lines up with scripture and the spiritual authorities in your life, and then move forward.
- I will find what God is leading me to do today.
- I will make sure it lines up with God’s Word and the counsel of spiritual authority in my life.
- I will not alllow those who seek discourage me to be successful today.
Lord, help me to realize the presence of a problem is not the absence of your presence. Help me move forward with your promises and take hold of your future for me.
