“An inheritance obtained too early in life is not a blessing in the end.”Proverbs 20:21 NLT
In the culture of quick and instant opportunities we can begin to think God is the same way. We ask for something in prayer and expect to receive it right away.
God, I need you to bless me.
God, I need a new job.
God, I need the get more healthy.
What we fail to remember is that God is more concerned with our character than with our comfort. He will not give us something that He knows our character cannot sustain. I wouldn’t give my 8 and 10 year old girls my car keys just because they asked for it. Why? Because no matter how bad they want to drive I know they simply are not ready yet. They will be ONE DAY just not TODAY.
If you have asked God for something and He has not given it to you yet, maybe it is for your own good. He knows you are not ready yet.
What do you do while waiting on God to answer your prayer?
1. Work on yourself. If He is waiting on you to be ready then work on you. Rid yourself of selfish motivation.
2. Find contentment in the waiting. Don’t spend your whole life waiting to enjoy tomorrow. Life is happening now. Enjoy today.
3. Decide to trust God’s process. He wants to give good things to you but, like a good Father, at a rare you can withstand.
