“But the two children struggled with each other in her womb. So she went to ask the LORD about it. “Why is this happening to me?” she asked. And the LORD told her, “The sons in your womb will become two nations. From the very beginning, the two nations will be rivals. One nation will be stronger than the other; and your older son will serve your younger son.””Genesis 25:22-23 NLT
Rebecca had an issue and asked God, “Why is this happening to me?” God’s answer shares with us three things.
1. There’s always a reason. Many times we can feel like everything is falling apart and for no reason. Never let that evil imagination lie to you. There’s always a reason. God doesn’t waste anything.
2. You may not like the answer. The problem with asking direct questions is sometimes you get direct answers. Realize that God loves you like a loving Father. However, like a loving Father He doesn’t always give us what we want but always what we need. The better question isn’t why but will we trust God even when we do not understand.
3. God’s purpose is greater than the moment. The answer she received possibly left her more confused than when she started. We know the rest of the story but she didn’t. This Word from God may not have made sense in the moment. That’s a great lesson for us. Many times we go through seasons and situations and wonder why God doesn’t take us out in a moment. We are left asking, “Why are you taking so long?” “Why do you seem distant?” “Why did this happen?” We must remember God doesn’t waste a single hurt in our lives and there is always a purpose in our pain.
