Holy Tuesday: Jesus Teaches and Confronts (Easter Week)

Introduction

Tuesday of Holy Week is filled with intensity. Jesus returns to the temple—not to cleanse it, but to teach with boldness and clarity. He confronts the religious leaders who challenge His authority, tells parables with piercing truth, and answers deep questions about faith, government, and eternity. As the cross draws near, Jesus does not retreat. He steps forward with purpose, making sure His followers—and His opponents—understand what matters most in the Kingdom of God.

Where Was Jesus & What Was He Doing?

Jesus spent this day teaching in the temple courts in Jerusalem. He delivered several powerful parables such as the Parable of the Two Sons, the Tenants, and the Wedding Banquet (Matthew 21–22). He also boldly rebuked the Pharisees and scribes in Matthew 23, calling out their hypocrisy. His teachings revealed the heart of God and exposed the religious system’s corruption. He warned of judgment but also extended grace to those who would listen.

How Can We Worship the Lord Today?

We worship Jesus today by receiving His words as truth, not just history. Let His teachings challenge your assumptions and shape your heart. Set aside time to read one of the parables He taught. Meditate on it and ask the Holy Spirit to apply it to your life. Worship also includes humility—coming before Jesus not with pride, but a teachable spirit, ready to grow.

Next Steps in Light of Holy Week

  • Read and Reflect: Choose one of the parables from Matthew 21–22 and journal what it teaches you about God, yourself, and others.
  • Examine Your Heart: Ask God if there is any area where your actions and words don’t match your heart. Confess it and ask for renewal.
  • Share a Truth: Tell someone what you’re learning this Holy Week. Let the truth of Jesus’ teaching come out of your mouth and your life.
