Hello friends. Happy Saturday!

πŸŽ™οΈ Behind the Breakdown Recap

We are about to finish up 1 Chronicles. It has been a great journey together. If you made it all the way through, we have grown together. It's an honor to bring honor to God's Word by not skipping any of it. We grow from reading all of God's Word... even the looong genealogies. πŸ˜‚

πŸ“š Scripture. πŸ’ͺ

(1 Chronicles 26:15) "The south gate went to Obed-edom, and his sons were put in charge of the storehouse."

Observation: Obed-Edom is the guy who was able to host the Ark of the Covenant in his home for some time. David did not know how to move the Ark, and doing it incorrectly caused the death of a guy named Uzzah. For a short time, Obed was chosen to host God's presence while the nation figured out how to bring the Ark to Jerusalem properly. We're having to use our imaginations a little. The Bible doesn't say if Obed was already scheduled to be a gatekeeper. If so, that's awesome. If not, that's even more awesome. I cannot help but wonder if that short time hosting God's presence changed His life and the lives of his family members forever. Just a taste of what it was like to be close to God changed his family's legacy. I wonder if he said, "I don't care what job you give me. I'd rather be a gatekeeper in the house of God than be anywhere else."

Application: Taste and see that the Lord is good. Spend time in His presence and realize this is where your peace and joy genuinely come from.

Prayer: "Lord, help us always to hunger and thirst for your righteousness. Your Word promises that those who do will be filled."

✍️ Quote of the Week That Makes You Think

β€œI am persuaded that men think there is no God because they wish there were none. They find it hard to believe in God, and to go on in sin, so they try to get an easy conscience by denying his existence.” –Charles Spurgeon
