Introduction

*This weekly newsletter will share about the Bible Breakdown podcast, things about RLC, and my favorite things from around the web. My prayer is it will help you know God better.

Hello friends. Happy Saturday!

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Behind the Breakdown Recap

1 Thessalonians is one of the earliest letters written. Imagine hearing about Jesus and hearing of His second coming. That is so exciting. That is exactly why book series like "The Left Behind" have sold millions of copies. We have always been fascinated by the future and what God is going to do. However, Paul reminds us that the goal is not WHEN Christ returns but rejoicing THAT Christ will return. That is a joy that remains no matter when the day of His return happens.

๐Ÿ“š Scripture. ๐Ÿ’ช

(1 Thessalonians 4:9) "We don't need to write about the importance of loving each other, for God himself has taught you to love one another."

Observation: Some people are naturally generous and naturally kind to others. They seem to look for ways to make a difference in the lives of people around them. Others do not have this trait naturally. They are not selfish or rude naturally. They do not think of others as part of their default character. What do we do? Get around God's presence. Grow in your knowledge and understanding of God. As you slowly conform to the character of Christ, you will begin to take on His way of seeing the world. You will start to see the world not as an accident waiting to happen but as an adventure to be experienced. People will not be victims and villains. They will be people worth being loved and honored. This doesn't mean you are a pushover. It does mean you seek to be as blessed as possible. God's character is contagious if you stay close to Him.

Application: Have you found yourself slipping in your devotional life? Restart and commit to your spiritual disciplines.

Prayer: "Lord, help me stay close to you always."
