Hello friends. Happy Saturday!

🎙️ Behind the Breakdown Recap

Happy belated Independence Day. If you are not from the United States, apologies. For those who are, it's an honor to live in a nation where we can worship the Lord freely and share in this journey together. No nation is perfect, and our nation is a great example of this. But I'm still thankful to be here and hope you are too.

📚 Scripture. 💪

(Ezra 3:11-13 NLT) “With praise and thanks, they sang this song to the Lord: “He is so good! His faithful love for Israel endures forever!” Then all the people gave a great shout, praising the Lord because the foundation of the Lord’s Temple had been laid. But many of the older priests, Levites, and other leaders who had seen the first Temple wept aloud when they saw the new Temple’s foundation. The others, however, were shouting for joy. The joyful shouting and weeping mingled together in a loud noise that could be heard far in the distance.”

Observation: This passage is one of the most interesting verses in the entire book of Ezra. The younger people were so excited about what God was doing, but the older people were mourning what God had done before. Perspective is so powerful. For young people, it can be so easy to live only in the “now” and forget the goodness of God in past days. It can be so easy for older people to live only in the “good ole days of the past” and not realize that God is doing something good right now. Everyone needs to take a step of faith and find a way to gain proper perspective. The past is valuable in teaching us God’s faithfulness, and the present is helpful in experiencing God right now. This is simple to say but not simple to live. We have to hold each other accountable to move forward together.

Application: Enjoy and respect the past, but live in the present.

Prayer: Thank You for always leading us in the right direction.
