📚 Scripture. 💪

(Isaiah 14:12-17) “How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.’ Instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to its lowest depths. Everyone there will stare at you and ask, ‘Can this be the one who shook the earth and made the kingdoms of the world tremble? Is this the one who destroyed the world and made it into a wasteland? Is this the king who demolished the world’s greatest cities and had no mercy on his prisoners?’”

Observation: This passage reflects the downfall of pride and rebellion. Satan, once exalted, fell because of his desire to be greater than God. It’s a stark reminder that pride leads to destruction. We live in a culture that celebrates self-promotion, but this passage warns against it. True greatness is found in humility and submission to God. Satan’s story is a cautionary tale for us all—when we seek to exalt ourselves, we set ourselves up for a fall. Instead, let’s choose the path of humility and submission to God’s will.

Application: Take time today to examine any areas of pride in your life, and ask God to help you walk in humility.

Prayer: Lord, help me recognize my pride and replace it with humility. Teach me to submit to Your will and trust Your plan over my own.

Each week, I blog about the passage of Scripture we covered the previous Sunday. The hope is to give additional context, resources, and more. The more we dig, the more we find.
