“Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.”Proverbs 30:5 NLT
I have been constantly drawn to this idea lately that God’s Word is full of wonderful promises. However, they do not do anyone any good unless they are activated in our lives. This verse reminds us again that God’s Word is true and a shield. However, for every promise there is a premise. The premise is that you have to come to Him for protection. Is there something you are needing God to do in our life? If so, have you just assumed He will take care of it or have you talked to God about it? It reminds me of this stage in my girl’s lives. Right now, they have to be reminded to pick their shoes up out of our living room. Hopefully this season will not last long but, right now, if I don’t remind them to pick their shoes up there’s no reasonable expectation they will do it. I have to say something and then they act. It’s not a great example because we shouldn’t compare God to a forgetful child that forgets to put away their shoes but work with me. My job is to remind my children of their promise to pick up their shoes and then they spring into action. God wants us to hold on to His Word and declare His faithfulness over situations.
- I will learn what God’s promises so I will know how God wants to move in my life.
- I will memorize God’s Word so I can remind myself of God’s ability when the pressure is on.
- I will ask God for what I need and trust His timing.
“God, today I hold on to You and walk away from all my selfish motives or assumptions. I will trust you and get You involved in my life.”
