(1 Peter 2:9) “You are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
Observation: We live in a world that constantly wants to tell us who we are. I recently watched a video where a lecturer said there are three ways to discover your identity. He said we can either look inward, look outward, or we can look upward. Looking inward, we declare who we are based on our feelings. This is dangerous because our view of ourselves changes, and we usually have many blind spots. If we look outward, we become victims to the constantly changing ties of culture. We will continually be subjected to changing popular opinions. Looking upward, we can see what God says about us and live accordingly. God doesn’t change His mind about us. His Word has been around for a long time. He has a consistent guiding hand that is both honest and powerful. So, we can look upward and build our lives on who God says we are. He says we are His. He says we are somebody. He says that we are significant, secure, and accepted. That’s awesome.
Application: Read God’s Word to discover what He says about you. Then, identify with His view and nothing else.
Prayer: Thank You for knowing us better than we know ourselves.
