Question: Why do we study the Bible?
Answer: The short answer is because it was inspired by God. He tells us to study His Word so we can know Him. But, there are even more reasons. Let’s talk about it.

1. To Know God and His Will

- John 17:3 – “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

- Hebrews 4:12 – “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
3. To Be Transformed and Renewed
- Romans 12:2 – “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
- Psalm 119:11 – “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

- Ephesians 6:17 – “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
6. To Be Equipped for Every Good Work
- Joshua 1:8 – “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
- Colossians 3:16 – “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
7. To Know the Truth and Be Set Free
- John 8:31-32 – “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
8. To Receive Hope and Encouragement
- Romans 15:4 – “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
